Just go out there and explore photography at your school, community and more:
- Join the Photography Club (or similar) at your school or community
- Join your school’s yearbook staff as a photographer
- Check out local art and photography galleries
- Visit local art museums, like the Honolulu Museum of Art
- Go to your local botanical gardens and practice different kinds of camera shots.
Stay Focused
Focus on photography, keep improving, and have fun as you set and fulfill goals:
- Thinking of studying photography in college? High school classes to help you prepare include: Photography, Computer Graphics, Computer Applications, Art, and Art History
- Take a photography class or workshop
- Take University of Hawaii’s non-credit courses on photography and digital media
Get Involved
Great minds think alike. Connect and work with other people who like photography as you reach your dream:
- Volunteer at a local museum, like Honolulu Museum of Art
- Volunteer with a local photographer that you admire: Helping them can help you learn more about what kind of work a photographer does
- Get experience developing pictures or selling photography equipment
- Find a summer internship working with photography
