- Join a hiking club to experience the beauty of Hawaii with like-minded individuals
- Start a garden in your yard or lanai. Don’t have space for a garden at home, get a plot through your local Community Garden on Oahu, Kauai, or wherever you live.
Stay Focused
Focus on gardening, keep improving, and have fun as you set and fulfill goals:
- Thinking of studying environmental studies in college? High school classes to help you prepare include: US Government & Politics, Human Geography, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology
- PaCES Summer Environmental Science Program at Windward Community College has a program for high school students interested in environmental and marine science
- Check out the Imi Pono no ka ‘Aina two-week environmental education summer program: Students grades 6-12 travel to natural areas across Hawai‘i Island to learn about plant propagation, invasive species control, reforestation and Hawaiian culture
Get Involved
Great minds think alike. Connect and work with other people who like gardening as you reach your dream:
- Volunteer with Hawaii Youth Conservation Corps (HYCC): Volunteers at least 17 years old can gain experience, knowledge and skills with environmental agencies across Hawaii
- Join the Sierra Club of Hawaii
- Join a beach cleanup
- Look for ways to support your community through Conservation Connections
- Find opportunities to work at an organic farm
